Critical Flaw in CareCam Pro IP Cameras Exposes Devices to Total Takeover
A high-severity vulnerability involving hard-coded credentials in CareCam Pro IP cameras allows remote adversaries to seize full administrative control.
Security advisories have highlighted a severe vulnerability tracked as CVE-2026-85083 affecting CareCam Pro IP Cameras. The issue stems from the use of hard-coded credentials embedded within the device firmware, carrying a CVSS v3 score of 6.8. Exploitation of this flaw enables malicious actors to bypass standard authentication mechanisms and gain complete administrative control of vulnerable devices.
According to security reports, the flaw impacts the ANJIA AJL33PC0801 model running legacy firmware packages with Bootloader U-Boot components. IP surveillance cameras are frequent targets in commercial facilities and critical infrastructure, as compromised video devices provide footholds for internal network pivots, persistent surveillance, or inclusion in distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) botnets.
Actionable Defense Strategies
To safeguard networked cameras and IoT ecosystems against unauthorized access, enterprise operators should implement the following security measures:
- Network Segmentation: Isolate surveillance systems and IoT hardware onto a dedicated, non-routable VLAN separated from primary operational and IT environments.
- Firmware Maintenance: Check with the camera vendor for firmware updates that disable static and hard-coded service credentials.
- Perimeter Filtering: Block external inbound connections to IP cameras, enforcing ingress filtering at corporate firewalls to keep camera management ports unreachable from the public internet.
